Pancreatitis

Pancreatitis is an inflammation or infection in the pancreas. The pancreas is a gland located behind the stomach which releases insulin, glucagon and substances that help with digestion. The inflammation can be caused by alcoholism, and alcohol abuse. In other cases the cause cannot be determined. Genetic causes have become more common. The symptoms of pancreatitis include abdominal pain, chills, clammy skin, fatty stools, vomiting and fever. There are different types of pancreatitis, treatments that are common in all types include eating a low-fat diet, getting enough vitamins and calcium, and taking pancreatic enzyme supplements.
